Luny Tunes

eggaetons first major hitmaking production team, Luny Tunes cranked out innumerable hits, club anthems, and fan favorites, working with all the most successful performers and releasing popular albums of their own as well. Comprised of Francisco Saldana and Victor Cabrera, Luny Tunes were the Neptunes of
eggaeton during the early 2000s, crafting standout songs for whomever they worked with, superstar or no-name. Though the number of Luny Tunes-produced hits during those heady days when
eggaeton was coming up are too bountiful to tally, their biggest hit -- and
eggaetons biggest as well -- was Daddy Yankees Gasolina. Thanks to their production not only on that song but elsewhere on the album from which it came, Barrio Fino, Daddy Yankee became
eggaetons first international superstar; Barrio Fino sold tons and hovered at the top of the Latin album charts for practically two years. Other big-time
eggaeton performers like Tego Calderón also worked closely with Luny Tunes, something that is showcased well on the duos albums, which feature a rotating roster of talent. Mas Flow came first, in 2003, followed by La Trayectoria in 2004 and Mas Flow, Vol. 2 in 2005. The latter sold very well, spinning off a few chart hits. It was around this time that Luny Tunes were widely recognized as one of the primary driving forces behind the surging popularity of
eggaeton, especially in the United States, where the music had a huge presence in Latino strongholds like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. In 2006 alone, for instance, they issued three albums: a best-of compilation (Reggaeton Hits), an enhanced re-release (Mas Flow, Vol. 2.5), and an all-new album (Mas Flow: Los Benjamins).
